Addiction

All normal people depend on something – air, water, food, love … But if dependence becomes an obsession, makes a slave out of a person, it becomes a disaster. This brings suffering to the addict himself and his loved ones. Today, addictions are so common that every person is familiar with this problem firsthand. Millions of people all over the world suffer from addictions, even more from the fact that addicts are next to them.

Groups

Addictions, or their other name, addictions, are divided into three main groups with subgroups.

The first group of dependencies is called “non-chemical”, it includes:

  • Gambling and computer addiction,
  • Shopaholism and workaholism
  • Internet addiction and television addiction
  • Cell phone addiction and relationships

The second group is chemical addiction. Everything is simple here:

  • Drug addiction and alcoholism
  • Tobacco smoking and hookah addiction

The third group is biochemical. The peculiarity of this group is associated with a violation of food intake.

  • Bulimia or food addiction (desire to constantly eat food)
  • Anorexia (refusal to eat, unhealthy thinness)

The mechanism of reaction of the nervous system to addiction

Let’s consider the mechanism of action of addiction. With addiction, a person experiences a short-term high and a sharp excitement of the nervous system. Such emotions differ from emotions in everyday life, the nervous system receives an artificial surge of dopamine (the hormone of joy), this feeling and gradually forms dependence.

The main types of dependencies:

  1. Addiction to chemicals.
  2. Drug addiction.
  3. Alcoholism.
  4. Drug addiction.
  5. Dependence on stimulating substances contained in tea and coffee. Addiction to sleeping pills, addiction to sedatives, addiction to steroids, addiction to stimulants.
  6. Food addiction.
  7. Overeating. Psychological mechanism.

  10. Codependency. Addiction to a relationship with a chemically dependent person.
  11. Physiological dependence. The mechanism of addiction: sex as a psychostimulant and relaxant.
  12. Romantic addiction. It is formed not so much from the physiological as from the psychological plan of love relationships. One of the forms is an obsessive desire through your partner to feel your significance, “need”, etc. Forms of manifestation in the process of recovery from chemical addiction.
  13. Platonic dependence. Adoration “from afar”. Music fans, admirers of “beautiful ladies”, sectarians. TV addiction.
  14. Gambling addiction, Internet addiction. The mechanism of addiction: excitement (psychostimulation) – exhaustion. Gambling, including Sports Betting. Computer games.
  15. Adrenaline addiction. Addiction mechanism: arousal with risky behavior.
  16. Workaholism. Altered state of consciousness caused by physical and mental exhaustion. Socially approved addiction.
  17. Obsessive stinginess. Obsessive waste of money. Shopaholism.
  18. Other possible forms of addiction: sport, lust for power, aggression.

How to overcome addiction

You can overcome addiction, but you will have to make a lot of effort. Treatment of addictions occurs through psychotherapeutic help, a psychologist helps a person to overcome their fears, change their thinking and attitude to a particular situation. Stress is of particular importance, usually because of it and various addictions arise.

When the addiction is chemical (drugs, alcohol), then the treatment is selected individually and is much more extensive than in the treatment of conventional addictions. In this case, the addict is first cleansed of the body of chemistry, then a course of medications, antidepressants and blockers is prescribed.

There are no harmless dependencies, you should remember this. Any addiction of a person takes away his will to act according to his own scenario. It is difficult to give up addiction, but only treatment is the only way to find freedom.

The mechanism of formation of addictive behavior is always the same – that which at first served to satisfy any need, itself turns into a need, and this newly formed need subordinates human behavior.
