People who are addicted to medicines – there is a way out!
Drug addiction is one of the drug addiction diseases. This dependence develops as a result of taking medications, and the pathological desire to take specific medications does not go away. Stopping the consumption of such a drug causes the greatest discomfort and disruption to physical and mental health.
Further and already constant use of the drug becomes a consequence of the formed dependence. Addiction and the formation of dependence are caused by such drugs as: barbiturates, tranquilizers, codeine, etc.
Stopping the use of these medicines leads the person to a place where the consequences can be as dire as from taking drugs. The difference is that clients on medication are more likely to be aware of their condition and are willing to fight it.
But, if the client does not want to stop taking medications that have caused addiction, drugs, he thereby contributes to the formation of a stable addiction, which takes on the character of drug addiction.
Drug dependence syndrome
Repeated long-term use of drugs can lead to the fact that when they are canceled, a person’s health condition or well-being sharply worsens. This condition is called drug dependence syndrome. Often the syndrome occurs with the use of psychotropic drugs, most often associated with withdrawal symptoms (opiates and psychostimulants), however, drug dependence can also arise from many other drugs, for example, glucocorticosteroids, as well as from hallucinogenic substances or organic solvents that are not used for treatment. The syndrome is determined by the pathological need of a person to take such drugs to avoid discomfort, mental disorders and abstinence – a condition in which the patient has a hysterical fear of drug withdrawal. Overcoming drug dependence can only be abrupt, especially in cases of mental dependence, or a gradual rejection of the use of drugs, or their replacement with additive drugs.
World statistics show that the prescription of drugs for long-term use is the cause of chemical dependence. The study showed that over the past two years, 34% of patients seeking help for medication have experienced drug treatment subsequently causing chemical dependence.
Signs
Drug dependence is a syndrome that develops with prolonged use of drugs.
The main symptom of manifestation is a sharp deterioration in well-being and health with a decrease in dosages or a complete withdrawal of the drug. This dependence has several characteristic developmental phases.
Phase I: psychological dependence. This state of a person is determined by an unhealthy need to take various drugs in order to get rid of the discomfort that manifests itself in case of stopping use. At this stage, drug dependence does not manifest itself as withdrawal symptoms (withdrawal symptoms).
Phase II: physical addiction. The body begins to get used to the drug, its tolerance increases, that is, a decrease in the response to repeated administration, which leads to the need to increase the dosage, and withdrawal symptoms occur.
Phase III: Withdrawal Syndrome. In the event of a sharp refusal or reduction in dosage, various serious deteriorations in the condition and health of a person occur.
Drug addiction symptoms
Drug dependence symptoms are characterized by a constant desire to take the drug, irritability, anxiety during his absence, insomnia, pain, discomfort, an increase in the amount of the drug, since the old dosage is no longer enough.
With drug dependence, treatment can be difficult, as there is a paradoxical reaction to taking the drug and brain damage.
The clinic of drug addiction is manifested by fluctuations in blood pressure, poor health, and general weakness.
In addition, a number of syndromes develop that negatively affect human health:
The psychological syndrome is characterized by a constant urge to take medicine due to discomfort, to test feelings of euphoria. Taking medicine becomes the dominant idea for the patient;
Physical syndrome is characterized by a decrease in drug sensitivity and a tendency to increase the dose;
Withdrawal syndrome is characterized by a sharp deterioration in health.
Treatment
The principle of drug dependence treatment is similar to drug dependence rehabilitation. A complete rejection of addictive drugs is assumed, and of course, a full course of rehabilitation. Clinic “MaaVaR” has extensive experience and specializes in dealing with this addiction. The MaaVaR Rehabilitation Center in Israel works in close collaboration with leading Israeli clinics that perform a huge number of successful surgeries, outpatient examinations, medical procedures, diagnostic examinations (MRI, CT, mammography), and cardiac catheterization procedures.
Formed technologies of medicine in the interests of preserving human health have become an organic part of the national idea of the State of Israel – taking care of human health.
